The building in which the International Centre of Excellence Casa Paganini - InfoMus Lab is located, is a monumental site, rich in frescoes and archaeological finds. The present building has been made out of the ancient convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie la Nuova in the more ancient heart of Genoa after a long restoration by the Regione Liguria. It includes an auditorium of 230 seats, a foyer, a gallery, information atelier and space museum.
During the past, the whole convent had various destinations until 1987, when the University became owner of the building. The project Casa Paganini - InfoMus Lab has been inaugurated in 2005 thanks to an agreement among the University of Genoa, Regione Liguria, Comune and Provincia of Genoa.
Also some local and regional ministries, agencies and institutions, as for example, the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, the University of Genoa, the Agenzia Regionale Territoriale per l´Edilizia, the Ente Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario and the Comune di Genova, cooperated to the implementation of the current project, promoted by Regione Liguria. Local Superintendencies, the Soprintendenza per i beni architettonici e per il paesaggio della Liguria e Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici took part, according to their specific competences, to the project too.
Open to the public with guided tour: on Monday and Wednesday from 09.00 to 13.00 and from 13.30 to 17.00.
